Shillong, March 27: Rupert Momin (NPP-Kharkutta) informed the Assembly on Monday that the state government is using Assam pincode for North Garo Hills resulting in the delay in getting official letters which has affected the job aspirants and others.
Participating in the discussion on the budget speech, Momin urged the government to take corrective steps so that the letters can be delivered on time with correct pincode as it will help the job aspirants who wait for call letters.
As the pincode is different, the letters first go to Tura then to Goalpara and return to Resubelpara and Tikrikilla.
While 783134 pincode is for Goalpara, the government continues to use the same for all official letters.
Sometimes, the government uses Meghalaya pincode 794111.
In reply, Conrad Sangma said that earlier Damas had also faced the similar problem.
He assured to look into the matter.
