Shillong, July 13: As the government got only one name for the post of chairperson of the proposed committee on reservation policy, the state government has decided to wait for more names.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters on Thursday that the government is still waiting for some more names for the appointment of the chairperson.
“Only one name has come up, therefore, we feel that the names should be a bit more broad so we are waiting for about 3-5 names so that the government can examine. Once we get the names for the chairperson we will bring it to the cabinet for its decision,” he said.
Conrad said the government has received multiple names for appointment of other members of the expert committee.
Later, a VPP delegation led by its president Ardent Basaiawmoit met the chief minister to know the status of the expert committee.
Ardent told reporters that the government assured to speed up the appointment of the chairperson and members of the committee.
