Guardians of rape victims get help from Guv
Shillong, Oct 5: The guardians of the two rape victims from Garo Hills along with members of Meghalaya Koch Women Welfare Association (MKWWA ) have received a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from the Governor as compensation and token help.
On April 16 this year, two minor girls were gangraped at Chenga Benga , Ampati , South West Garo Hills District by several youths from neighbouring Assam.
In this connection , the members of Meghalaya Koch Women Welfare Association , Ampati led by Ananda Koch , Advisor of the Association, met the then governor and submitted a memorandum for help.
As the new governor assisted the victims,
the guardians and the members thanked him.
In a statement, ex- MLA KC Boro hoped that in future too , they will get all necessary help from the governor.
Earlier, the state government had granted Rs 5 lakh to the victims.
“For this, the guardians and the community as a whole are happy and grateful to the state government of Meghalaya”, he added.
Boro said as per information received , more than 15 culprits were arrested by the district police for which they are also thankful to the police.
