Shillong, March 1: The name of Synshar Lyngdoh, who is the nephew of former home minister and Sohiong candidate late HDR Lyngdoh, was recommended by the UDP Sohiong Circle to contest the deferred ekection to the seat.
The Election Commission is yet to declare the date following the death of HDR Lyngdoh on February 20.

“I have received a letter from the Sohiong Circle yesterday. They have proposed the name of Synshar Lyngdoh, who is the nephew of HDR Lyngdoh, to contest the upcoming election in the constituency,” said President of the UDP East Khasi Hills District and KHADC chief Titosstarwell Chyne.
Chyne told reporters, “I will have to take up this proposal with the state election committee for its approval.”
