Shillong, Jan 30: A joint team of West Garo Hills Police and the BSF detected on Monday 400 gram heroin worth Rs 2 crore at Photamati Junction under Tikrikilla Police Station ( Raksamgre Assembly constituency).
One person Zakir Hussain, (24), son of Abdul Rahim, R/o Kusnimara PO/PS – Mankachar, – South Salmara, Assam has been arrested. He was travelling from Goalpara, Assam to Mankachar with the consignment.
The contraband has been seized as per procedure and a case is being registered.
Apart from this, total cash amounting to Rs. 12,47,630 was also seized on Monday by various teams all across the district.
Model Code of Conduct is being enforced strictly by security forces which has led to the seizure of around 30000 litres of liquor worth around Rs 1 crore and cash seizure of more than Rs 46 lakh.
