Shillong, Jan 31: Sisters and NPP candidates Ampareen Lyngdoh from East Shillong and Jasmine Lyngdoh ( Nongthymmai) were the first candidates to file nomination papers before the returning officers, East Khasi Hills on Tuesday followed by PM Syiem ( Independent from Mylliem).
Ampareen told reporters that it is a tradition of her family to file nominations on the first day.
“It has been the tradition of my family since 1972. Our family has served the state of Meghalaya for 51 long years. So it has always been a practice and convention of my late father followed by my late brother maintained by me and now my younger sister is also doing the same thing,” she said
“We have come here on the first day first show to show people that we are ready to serve you come vote for us. Like we are first for filing we are first in everything else,” the East Shillong legislator said.
