HITO files FIR against eatery in Rynjah

Shillong, April 9: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territory Organisation (HITO) has lodged an FIR with Rynjah police station against an eatery for unhygienic practices and also doing business without a trading license.
The move was after HITO Shillong City along with the Dorbar Shnong carried out an inspection on April 8 regarding trading licenses and health regulations concerning food safety in the city.
“During our inspection, we encountered alarming conditions at a shop named Rajshree, located within your jurisdiction in Rynjah. We found the establishment to be in an unacceptable state of cleanliness, raising significant health concerns regarding the food being prepared and sold there. Given the recent tragic incidents in Karnataka, where two individuals lost their lives due to food poisoning, we believe that immediate action is necessary to prevent similar occurrences in our area. It was noted that the shop owner is operating without proper trading licenses and does not possess the necessary documentation for the labourers employed there. This negligence not only endangers public health but also flouts regulatory requirements meant to safeguard our community,” HITO said in the FIR.
