HNLC wants suspension of operations

Shillong, March 13: The HNLC has asked the state government to instruct the police to suspend all activities including arresting, raiding and harrassing its cadres and also people just on mere suspicion of maintaining links with the HNLC.

The outfit also suggested the need of forming a Hynniewtrep Peace Committee  which will include church leaders and NGOs to facilitate the peace talks between the outfit and the government.

The HNLC said keeping in mind the various factors that would pave way for a peaceful solution, the HNLC leadership has authorised a representative to meet the interlocutors and simultaneously initiate to form the Hynñiewtrep Peace Committee, whereby stakeholders, church elders, citizens and NGOs shall be  part of the committee so as to ensure a smooth functioning of the peace process .

Welcoming the appointment of interlocutors, HNLC general secretary-cum-publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said this is a positive step as it hoped that the entire process would be taken up in letter and spirit.

He said the outfit is waiting for an official communication from the state government with regard to the appointment of interlocutors Peter S Dkhar (in picture) and AK Mishra (MHA) Advisor, North East.
