Shillong, Aug 31: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will discuss the issue of unemployment with the leaders of Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement ( HNYM) on September 4.

The HNYM staged a protest in the city on Thursday demanding 80 percent reservation of jobs in the private sector.

The HNYF leader Louis Dohtdong said after the chief minister assured to meet the pressure group, the protest was called off though the intention was to carry out a procession towards the secretariat.

On Wednesday, theĀ  East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner had prohibited holding of rally and procession in the city.

Dohtdong said last year too, the pressure group had protested on the issue of unemployment.

“What we are asking is more jobs for the state youths in private sectors, the government should frame employment policy to cover the private sector, and there is 80 pc reservation of jobs for locals in Maharashtra”, Dohtdong added.
