Illegal coal transportation should stop totally: Prestone

Shillong, April 12: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the government has asked the police to stop illegal transportation of coal.
“Whoever is carrying illegal coal, they will be seized and then they will be charge sheeted,” Tynsong told reporters on Wednesday.
He was replying to a question on a truck carrying coal in Ri Bhoi.
On Tuesday, the High Court of Meghalaya had said the failure to check overloaded vehicles points to the state government being a party to the illegal mining and transportation of the coal in flagrant disregard of orders passed by the Supreme Court.
Vacant posts
He said the government will soon advertise another 1500 posts for recruitment in police.
“We are going to again advertise for another 1500 manpower which is required in the police department alone,” Tynsong said.
The deputy chief minister said the process of recruitment will start soon and the government will ensure that such vacancies are filled up within this year.
Tynsong said the personal interview for over 1000 plus vacant posts will be held within the next 3-4 days.
