Shillong, July 25: The accused involved in operating illegal coke plants and facilitating illegal coal mining are absconding.
DGP LR Bishnoi told reporters on Tuesday that police personnel are searching for them.
“One team of Meghalaya police is stationed in Guwahati for the last 15-20 days and with the help of Assam police, they are raiding their houses, but unfortunately, none of them are found at their residential places as most probably they have changed their numbers and they also have left Assam for some other places. So it will take time but we are after them,” he said.
Bishnoi sought the cooperation of his counterpart in Assam in arresting the kingpins.
“Immediately, after the high court order, during investigation, the kingpins’ names figured and their addresses were ascertained and they were found to be from outside Meghalaya,” Bishnoi said.
“I have written a letter to the DGP of Assam mentioning the details of these persons and their addresses etc and I had sought his cooperation in nabbing them,” he said.
