Imphal–Dimapur–Guwahati transport resumes after 3 years
Imphal, Aug 21 (NNN): As part of the Manipur government’s continuing efforts to restore peace and normalcy, public transport services on the Imphal–Dimapur–Guwahati route resumed on Friday, marking a significant development after a gap of nearly three years since the unprecedented crisis in the state.
A total of 125 passengers travelled on the route, in two buses and five wingers.
“The resumption of this service is an important step towards restoring normal life and strengthening connectivity. It has been widely appreciated by the public, with people welcoming the restoration of this crucial inter-state link”, an official statement said.
One of the travellers, Kiyam Kumarjit Singh from Thoubal district, expressed his gratitude to the state government for this positive initiative, the statement said. He added that this new journey should usher in love, peace, and harmony among all communities in the state, and help people move beyond what had happened in the past. “Let us all forgive and forget the past,” he added.
Nivedita from Khundrakpam village in Imphal East district hoped for peace in the state.
It may be mentioned that during his last visit to Kangpokpi district on August 8, 2026, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, along with Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen, had announced the reopening of national highways for free movement of all communities and that the Imphal–Dimapur-Guwahati bus service would be resumed soon.
