Shah assures Manipur CM on ‘wishes of people’

Imphal, Aug 26 (NNN): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday assured Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh that the Centre would fulfil the wishes of the people of Manipur, according to a statement from the Manipur chief minister’s office. This was stated by the Union Home Minister when the Manipur Chief Minister called on him at his official residence in New Delhi.

Shah will also visit Manipur in the first week of October this year, the statement informed. During his visit, he would lay the foundation stone of the new Senapati Medical College and oversee other developmental projects of the state.

There is a strong demand by the Meitei and the Naga communities for conducting the NRC exercise before Census. However, this demand has been resisted by the Kukis. Several political leaders, including former chief minister N Biren Singh, had been camping in New Delhi for NRC.

Amit Shah gave a patient hearing to all the issues relating to the state as raised by Khemchand Singh, the statement added. The Union Home Minister then informed the Manipur Chief Minister that the Central government will fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur.

The Union Home Minister also lauded the State Government for its success in the resumption of the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service and ensuring free movement on the National Highway 2, the statement claimed.
