Indian wrestlers enter semis
Tokyo, August 4 (UNI): India’s Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Deepak Punia progressed into the semi-finals beating their respective opponents in the men’s freestyle 57kg and 86kg category here on Wednesday.
Dahiya did not face much difficulty and defeated Georgi Valentinov of Bulgaria by 14-4 in quarter-finals in completely one-sided match.
Unlike Dahiya, Punia won his bout only in last seconds. Punia was on the verge of elimination when he managed a master move to outclass Chinese Lin Zushen with only five seconds to go in the 86kg section.
Earlier in the day, Dahiya marched into the quarter-finals of the men’s freestyle 57kg category after edging Colombia’s Oscar Eduardo Tigreros Urbano by the Technical Superiority of 13-2.
Punia had made to the quarter-finals of the men’s freestyle 86kg after beating Nigeria’s Ekerekeme Agiomor. Punia outclassed Nigerian by the Technical Superiority of 12-1.
In the semi-finals, Dahiya will take on Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sunyaev and Punia will fight World Championship winner from the US Deepak Taylor.
