Power Minister AT Mondal said three victims’ families were given compensation .

However, the compensation of Rs 1 lakh for one of the victims was paid only on March 3 after waiting for  the last 8 years, according to Marak.

In reply, the minister said, “Yes, it is a fact and we are enquiring into the matter why it takes so much time and I assure it will not happen in the future.”

Referring to the matter, Charles said the government should ensure that  compensation to the victims should be paid on time.

Safety issues

Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma wanted safety auditing of the all distribution lines to prevent electrocution.
” This will ensure safety of land owners and farmers, as many times these are where such incidents take place”, he said.
In his reply, Mondal assured to look into the matter while maintaining that safety auditing of all lines are being followed.
