
Shillong, March 12: The state government said it was committed to make the Tura Government Medical College functional.
In reply to a question by Mukul Sangma (TMC) in the Assembly on Wednesday, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said the government will fast track the completion of the project by 2026-27.
The National Medical Council (NMC) will come to Tuta for inspection.
The government will increase additional 180 beds to achieve 400 beds as per NMC norms, she said.

The total area of land donation is 99 acres.
“The money sanctioned by the government of India for the project till date is Rs 170.10 crore. The total amount released to the PMC till date is Rs 185.65 crore. The total amount released to the contractor for the PMC till date is Rs 178.66 crore,” she said.
