Justice a far cry for Amita and Agnes even after three years
Third anniversary of attack by coal mafia on duo

Shillong, Nov 8: Justice is a far cry for social activists Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma, who were attacked by coal barons on November 8, 2018.
Three years later, the duo spoke to media persons on Monday about the ’empty’ promise of the government to institute an independent probe into the assault case.
Though the case taken up by the police was chargesheeted, trial is yet to start. Agnes stressed the need of transferring the case from Khliehriat to Shillong.
The activists rued that there is no end to illegal mining of coal and its transportation.
Amita stands by statement against CM
Amita reiterated that when she was admitted in NEIGRIHMS following the attack, the Chief Minister,Conrad Sangma had asked her to keep quiet about the incident.
Earlier on October 18, Amita had first revealed about Conrad’s plea to her to keep quiet.
Later on November 1, Conrad denied the statement of Amita and said, “This is completely false, I have never spoken to the concerned person”.
NPP leader Nidamon Chullet was leading the group that targeted the duo.
