
Shillong, March 31: Several pressure groups from Khasi-Jaintia and Garo Hills region held a meeting in the city on Monday convened by HYC to take up common issues, including drug addiction and influx.
The meeting decided to revive the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation (CoMSO) which had taken up many state issues in the past.
The meeting chaired by HYC president Roykupar Synrem aims to understand the problems faced by state’s indigenous communities from the neighbouring state and the country in terms of influx.
The attendees said the purpose is to bring all the indigenous communities and NGOs under one platform and work as one unit to resolve the issues like drug abuse, ILP, MRSSA (Amendment Act 2020).
They also wanted protection of political rights of the indigenous people.
