KHNAM files complaint against BJP leader for adverse comments on Meghalaya
Shillong June 25: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has lodged a complaint against BJP leader and lawyer for his comments on Meghalaya.
KHNAM working president Thomas Passah sai in the FIR submitted to the Officer in-charge Cyber Crime that Ashwini Updhyay, who is a lawyer and a BJP leader, in a video that went viral on social media, has made several statements, which are totally incorrect, misleading and more importantly sending a wrong message to the rest of the country on matters relating to Meghalaya.
“The statement besides others made by the the individual would draw a wrong picture about the functioning of the state to the country and might put in danger the citizens of the state studying/residing in other parts of the country. Therefore, we file this first information report against the person so that necessary action can be taken as per the law,” Passah said.
The FIR also quoted Ashwini Updhyay alleging “That the legislative, the executive and the judiciary is not functioning in the state of Meghalaya. That church has taken control of the whole state, and leaders of the church in the state are controlling the functions of the state. That, Hindus are getting extinct and they are not allowed to practise their religion in the state. That, the police are not functioning and they are doing nothing in the state.
