KSU detects labourers in city without work permit

Shillong, Oct 27: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Wednesday sent back several migrant labourers after they were found working without work permit.

The checking on work permits was conducted by the KSU Nongthymmai Circle in Nongthymmai areas.

In a statement, KSU-NC general secretary Richard Mawkhiew said many of the labourers detected during the checking were without permits and were sent back.

“We will intensify our checking against illegal labourers,” he added.

The inspection was part of the long-pending demand for immediate implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and the Meghalaya Residents’ Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), the KSU leader asserted.
