Shillong, Jan 5:There is lack of clarity regarding the five Omicron cases detected in the state on Tuesday.
Local authorities are clueless about the nature of cases as the health department failed to disseminate proper information to the public.
A case in point is Langkyrding as it is a vast area comprising many localities but the health officials had only mentioned about a case of Assam tourist reported from Langkyrding without giving details. There were also reports that the tourist went back to Assam.
This created confusion among the residents of the area besides Laitumkhrah, Happy Valley and Saiden in Ri Bhoi where cases were reported and many headmen were also clueless.
There was also criticism from two farmers of Saiden who tested positive for Omicron.
Though media persons reached out to the health officials on Tuesday for details, response was not adequate.
