In separate letters addressed to the chief ministers on Sunday, Dev, who is an ex-MP from Silchar, said that although search and rescue operations are on, as per report, the miners are yet to be recovered.

She said the two labourers from Assam,  Anwar Hussain of Najatpur village of Katigorah and Abdul Sukkur of Badarpur are yet to be traced out. Since many days have elapsed from the tragic accident, their lives might be in danger, she said in the letters.

“It is needless to mention here that the family members of the two labourers are suffering from serious mental agony about their whereabouts. They are anxiously waiting for the safe rescue of their wards by the administration. Considering the gravity of the situation, I would request you to kindly take necessary measures for the rescue of these  two labourers at the earliest possible, she said.
