Shillong. April 24: Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress under the leadership of Joplyn Scott Shylla protested against the proposed delimitation process on April 23 at Mawiong, Mawlai. While opposing delimitation due to concerns over its potential impact on the state’s representation and interests, the Mahila Congress reiterated its support for 33% reservation for women in Parliament and State Assembly seats.
The MPMC emphasized that women’s political empowerment is essential for inclusive and balanced governance, and called for the immediate implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill, ensuring adequate representation of women across all levels of decision-making.
