Manipur CM meets Modi, invites him to visit state

Imphal, Feb 24 (NNN): Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and his two deputies — Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen — met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday and briefed the latter on the steps taken up by the new state government to revive peace and harmony in Manipur.

The Manipur delegation also urged the Prime Minister to take special care of women’s empowerment in both the hills and the valley. This was informed by the Manipur chief minister’s office on Tuesday evening.

This is the first time Khemchand met the Prime Minister after he took over as the Manipur chief minister on February 4 last.

The Manipur chief minister and his two deputy chief ministers invited the Prime Minister to visit Manipur, the chief minister’s office added.

Khemchand met Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday at his residence in New Delhi. All these meetings were the first time Khemchand met the Union ministers after he took over as the Manipur chief minister on February 4.
