Shillong, Sept 20: MPCC chief Vincent H Pala on Friday said many former MLAs and former ministers will join the party in the state.
Pala said, “There is no denying the fact that so many MLAs left and there is no denying the fact also that so many of them want to come back as of today.”
Case against three MLAs
The Congress threatened to move the High Court if the ruling of the Assembly Speaker regarding its petition challenging the merger of the three former Congress MLAs with the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) is not satisfactory.
The Congress has filed two petitions – one against the two suspended MLAs – Charles Marngar (Mawhati) and Gabriel Wahlang (Nongstoin) and the other against Dr Celestine Lyngdoh (Umsning) – after they joined the NPP on August 19.
One nation, one election
One nation, one election is a non-beginner or a non-starter for the simple reason, if at all it has to be a law, it has to be approved by both houses of the parliament. It has to be approved by more than 50% of the states.
