MCA teams to take part in regional U-19 & U-23 tournaments
Shillong, Apr 5: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), following recommendations by its Cricket Advisory Sub-Committee, has named squads for the U-19 and U-23 NECDC tournaments, which will start on Monday.
The tournaments are organised by the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC) and will run from 6 to 11 April. The NECDC is an association of six regional states – Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim.
While the U-19 men will be playing in Nagaland, the U-23 women will be in action in Sikkim.
Meghalaya won both the senior-level tournaments last year, so this is a chance for the state’s youngsters to show what they are capable of. A preparatory camp was held in Shillong from 2 to 4 April.
MCA President James PK Sangma was present in person to see off the women’s team on Saturday and the men’s team on Sunday. He wished both teams the best so that they may perform to the best of their abilities and make Meghalaya proud.
