Meghalaya best performing state in PMGSY: Tynsong

Shillong,Feb 3: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday claimed that Meghalaya is the best performing state as far as Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana  (PMGSY) implementation is concerned.

He said the Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh had recently reviewed the performance of the state for PMGSY implementation.

“I would like to tell all of you that right now in the NE states, we are the best performing state as far as PMGSY implementation is concerned,” Tynsong told reporters on Thursday.

He said out of 1,300 kms of PMGSY road targeted under Phase-I and Phase-II, about 1,000 kms have been completed. 

“I have already instructed the secretary and  chief engineer of the PWD, to work day and night and make sure that the target is met at the earliest possible,” he said.

Central road funds  

Tynsong on said the state is expecting to get not less than Rs 200 crore under the central roads fund (CRF) during the current financial year.

He met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari during his recent visit to New Delhi.

“We discussed the CRF and I am very sure we are going to get not less than Rs 200 crore for this current financial year,” he said.
