Metal, healthcare power Sensex rally

Mumbai, May 10 (UNI): Extending gains for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, the BSE Sensex rallied 295.94 points to close high at 49,502.41 following gains in metal, power, healthcare, utilities and capital goods stocks.

The Nifty too rose by 119.20 points to 14,942.35.

In early trade, Sensex rose by 290 points at 49,496.05. It advanced by 411 points to 49,617.47 days high, before closing at 49,502.41, up by 295.94 points from its previous close.

Sensex registered days high and low at 49,617.47 and 49,412.05 points, respectively. Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,966.90 and 14,892.50 points, respectively.

The sectoral indices like metal, healthcare, utilities and power kept the market up. In scrips, L& T, Dr Reddy, Sun Pharma, NTPC and IndusInd Bank rallied, however selling in Ultracemco, Infosys, HCL Technology and Reliance Industries capped from further gains, broker informed.

The mid cap rose by 0.97% and small cap by 0.94%. In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.
