Shillong, July 7: The MDA MLAs have protested against interruption of Speaker’s address by cabinet minister and BJP leader Sanbor Shullai during the meeting convened by BJP for the presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu at Orchid Lake resort, Umiam, on Wednesday.
Sone UDP MLAs and party leaders met Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and expressed anguish over the matter
According to MLAs who were present, Speaker was highlighting on the need to protect the minorities from atrocities when Shullai interrupted and protested.
The Speaker had asked the minister to be calm.
The media persons were not allowed inside the hall where the meeting was held.
Later on Thursday, BJP leader AL Hek expressed his displeasure over the matter while explaining about the incident to a news channel.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the Speaker, independent MLA Lambor Malngiang, who is associated with the UDP, said the behaviour of the minister was unbecoming.
Though contacted, Shullai was not available for comments. He is camping in Kolkata.
