MP Sinha visits adopted village to take note of development initiatives
Kongthong to get e-rickshaws
Shillong, May 9: Prof Rakesh Sinha visited his adopted village Kongthong in East Khasi Hills on Monday and inspected developmental activities.
Sinha visited the health sub-center that started functioning 15 days back. He also formed various committees — cultural revival community, health and education committee food committee and tourism committee — to accelerate development of the cluster of villages.
A media statement said the Transport Department, which is headed by D Lamare, has promised to give five e-rickshaws to the village, which is famed for its tradition of attaching tunes to names.
Sinha was also invited by the village committee of the Nod Swer village. he addressed the villagers and assured them that he would communicate to the state government their problems. Surgeon Nongrum, community leader, and Phyrnai Sirdar complained of negligence by local administration and pointed out that there was scarcity of water and road connectivity.
