Musical day in Sohra cave to promote tourism, young talents
Shillong, July 20: The Clean Sohra Campaign in collaboration with Meghalaya Grassroot Music Project held, for the first time, a musical show inside Arwah cave in Sohra, on Sunday.
The event, powered by Meghalaya Tourism, was not only to promote tourism through local music but also to encourage young talents.
Folk-fusion band Summersalt was invited to play its songs from its second album and also to interact with the young musicians of Sohra.
“It gave us so much purpose to be able to jam and play the songs of the young musicians. We were there to do our part and encourage the upcoming artistes who performed soulfully,” says Kit Shangpliang of Summersalt.
Clean Sohra Campaign leader Alan West Kharkongor said, “The idea of conducting such a unique event is to tell the world, how important it is to take responsibility to protect and preserve mother nature, whether it is the cave, the streams, the waterfalls and so on.”
