NE teachers visit Mother’s School, discusses contribution of Aurobindo
A team of 13 trainees under a certificate course in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) from NERIE, NCERT visited Mothers School at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Shillong recently under the leadership of Prof. Nityananda Pradhan, Head, Department of Education and the Programme Coordinator. The trainees consisted of teachers and teacher educators from different states of the North East
.As a part of the visit schedule, a workshop was conducted in the forenoon session on the life and contributions of Sri Aurobindo in the field of education under the leadership of Farida Khan, the Principal of the School. At the outset, the programme coordinator Prof. Pradhan welcomed the house followed by a lecture on the theme by the resource person Farida, and reflections of the participants on the critical aspects of the educational philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, particularly on holistic education, child-centered pedagogy, contextual learning and education for humanity. In the afternoon session, the trainees were apprised of the teaching-learning process, assessment mechanism, and various community-based activities of the Mothers School. Towards the end of the programme, the participants made a short tour of the serene campus of the Ashram and its units. The session ended with a vote of thanks by the programme coordinator.
