Shillong, Feb 8: Iewduh (Bara bazar), the major traditional market in the city, will get a face lift as the North Eastern Council ( NE) has proposed a project worth over Rs 10 crore to improve the area.
“I used to visit Barabazar , there is a need to improve the place in terms of cleanliness and the purpose is to beautify the area”, the outgoing NEC secretary K Moses Chalai told reporters on Thursday.

According to the NEC, the government has been asked to rework the detailed project report ( DPR) before starting the project.
The NEC is yet to release fund pending DPR finalisation.
