Shillong, July 24: NEIGRIHMS will have an internal probe into the actual cause of chaos and the death of an accident victim in the institute.
An official with the institute said on Monday that a meeting will be held to discuss the matter.
The emergency department witnessed chaos on Sunday after the relatives of a youth who was admitted after an accident in Umiam alleged medical negligence on the part of the staff and doctors as conflicting reports of the boy alive and dead emerged.
Another allegation from the family was that no treatment was given to the boy for 4 hours.
However, NEIGRIHMS officials denied medical negligence and added that the staff tried to revive the boy but the nature of the injury was grave.
According to the hospital, life saving drugs were administered and other scanning was done but the boy could not be revived.
However, a report was sought by NEIGRIHMS authorities.

“The 22-year-old youth who was on a bike was run over by a vehicle at Umiam following which 108 ambulance brought him after one hour to the institute at 12.20 pm. As per doctors and those who attended, BP was down X-Ray and Ultra sound were done and his condition was serious and thigh bones were broken. A lot of blood was collected on chest and there was abdominal injury too . He was put on a ventilator and administered resuscitation for one hour from 2 pm and at 3. 15 pm he was declared dead. This is the first time in the city that this type of anger of mob was witnessed at the hospital though we tried all means to save a life”.
