Shillong, Jan 7: A 24-year-old man killed his uncle following a dispute over betelnut business in Tura, West Garo Hills on Tuesday morning.
Police arrested the accused.
Police said around 11.30 am, information was received that two persons were fighting at Tura Bazar and the police team from Tura Police Station rushed to the spot.
On reaching the spot, it was learnt that Minurul Islam, s/o Sofiur Rahman of Hajirhat, Sukchar South Salmara, Assam assaulted his uncle (Late) Jaha Uddin S/o Kadim Ali, permanent address in Singimari Assam, but presently staying in a rented house at Risipara Tura, with a dao at Super Market Ground around 11.25 am
Following the assault, the victim succumbed to his injuries at Tura Civil Hospital.
It is suspected that they had an argument over business matter, the police added.
According to sources, both of them were betelnut traders.
