Shillong,Sept 29: The new chief secretary Rebecca Vanessa Suchiang has assured to provide transparent administration by motivating others in the government.
Speaking to Meghalaya Monitor on phone, Rebecca said women officers like the first woman chief secretary of the state, PP Trivedi had paved way for her and other officials to excel in profession.
She said the role of chief secretary is of an advisory nature and she will be in the position less than one year to motivate others so that pending works can be completed on time .
To a question , she admitted that with the formation of Meghalaya Lokayukta , the role of State Vigilance Commissioner is limited.
She is also the head of vigilance commission.
A 1989-batch IAS officer, Rebecca replaces MS Rao of the 1987 batch who was due to retire on September 30.
Suchiang held the post of Additional chief secretary in-charge Personnel & AR, cabinet affairs, finance, home (police) departments among others.
