NGEA dislikes CEM’s style of work

Banks warned not to release salary for five months

Shillong, May 26: The employees of GHADC under the banner NGEA have condemned the style of working of new CEM of GHADC Benedic Marak as he has been refusing to release the pending salary of employees for more than 34 months.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NGEA said that the aggrieved employees are still agitating for the pending salary but surprisingly, on Wednesday, the CEM brought many outsiders to work in the office of GHADC.

“The CEM cannot use the office of GHADC as his personal firm or as his personal property since there is a mechanism and system that have to be adopted in respect to public office”, the NGEA said.

The organisation also wanted to know how he engaged public personnel as security guards on GHADC premises who are unmasked and are freely walking around violating protocol.

The NGEA said bundles of office files have also been clandestinely moved to some unknown place.

It has also written letters to respective branch managers of SBI informing that the employees of GHADC have already denied the claim made by the CEM that the staff agreed to resume office after negotiation with the members of Executive Committee subject to receiving 5 months’ pending salary in old scale.

The NGEA has urged the respective bank managers to not comply with the order of the CEM and credit/release the five months’ salary in old scale as the employees have the legal right to choose whether to accept the salary or not.

The NGEA has also threatened legal action against the banks if they release the salary for five months.
