‘No desire to become CLP leader’
Charles against projecting CM candidate before 2023 polls

Shillong, Oct 23: Congress legislator Charles Pyngrope has said he has no desire to become CLP leader.
Speaking to reporters at his residence on Saturday, Pyngrope said there is no demand to replace CLP leader Mukul Sangma.
” I was offered to be the CM in 201O, but I declined. Recently I was tipped to be the president of the party which also did not happen and lastly , I don’t want to be the CLP leader,”Pyngrope said.
Donwplaying any difference between Mukul and party president Vincent Pala, Charles said Mukul is building up the party and he is campaigning for the bypoll candidate in Rajabala to ensure the victory of the party.
Leader to be elected after polls
To a question on 2023 elections, Pyngrope said it would be ideal not to project any leader as CM candidate before the polls.
“It would be better for the party MLAs as per practice to elect their leader after the polls,” he said.
