“We have decided that the celebration has to go on. Golden jubilee is golden jubilee. We cannot stop the celebration,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters after a review meeting.

Tynsong said the chief secretary and respective deputy commissioners have also been directed to come up with detailed programmes for the celebrations before the state government reviews the matter again next week.

“Thereafter, the government will take a final call in this regard. Of course we will reduce as much as possible and the attendees who will be part of the celebration should not be much,” he asserted.

When asked about the invitation to PM, the deputy chief minister said, “Let us see and wait. I think by next week we will get a clearer picture.”
