Garo Hills also witnessed massive protests on the matter.

On Saturday, the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was again greeted with black flags as protesters (in picture) demanded immediate removal of Rakesh, who is his brother-in- law.

The chief minister was at Chandmary, Tura where he inaugurated the state-of-the-art and the first of its kind, artificial turf football playground with Rs 5.4 crore .

Mukul, who is also the AITC leader, said  the situation could have been avoided.

“The situation that unfolded in Garo Hills following installation of CM @ConradSangma’s brother-in-law Rakesh A Sangma as CEM, GHADC could have been avoided but for the party leadership’s obsession with power & money – money is the root cause of all evil,”  Mukul tweeted.
