Shillong, Aug 21: National People’s Party (NPP) leader and cabinet minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said his party will continue to work with all the coalition partners in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance till the end of the term.
Speculation was rife that the NPP may consider dropping ministers from the coalition parties like the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) following the merging of the three Congress MLAs with NPP.
Congress to be wiped out
He also predicted that the opposition Congress will soon be wiped out from Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Dhar referred to the merging of three Congress MLAs with the NPP and said, “It seems that it is going toward that very soon, the Congress will be wiped out from Meghalaya.”
Other MLAs approaching party
He said other MLAs are also approaching the party.
“Some of the MLAs are approaching us so we are still examining it,” Dhar said.
He refused to disclose details of such MLAs on whether they are from ruling or opposition parties.
“But some have approached us and they are most welcome if they come to join us,” Dhar said.
