One killed, four injured in cyclone-induced rain

Damages reported from parts of state

Shillong, May 28: One person was killed and four were injured in state due to cyclone Remal induced rain since May 26.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Executive Director State Disaster Management Authority. M. War said that a wall collapsed at Sutnga Weilong under Wapung C&RD Block in East Jaintia Hills District resulting in one death and one damage to a house.
Four people were injured following a
landslide  at Mawkynroh Bypass under Mawlai C&RD Block. All injured persons were shifted to NEIGRIHMS hospital for treatment.
In Shillong, the  light tower of JN Stadium, Polo collapsed due to strong wind, police added.
There were minor damages to some houses in East Khasi Hills.
 A tree was uprooted near Last Stop bus shed and the forest staff have cleared the tree

4 Injured persons shifted to NEIGRIHMS
Tyrsad road under Mawphlang Block  totally blocked the road.
Landslide at Lower Lumparing, house damaged.
West Garo Hills 
In West Garo Hills, cyclone occurred at Rongkhon agal village in Rongram Block. Fallen tree and restoration of work and clearing the road is under process by PWD (Road) and Forest Department.
In South West Khasi Hills, cyclone Remal on Monday hit Mawten village under Mawkyrwat C&RD Block where one house was damaged.
Cyclonic storm also occurred on Monday at Dombah village under Mawthadraishan C&RD Block where one house was partially damaged.
