Shillong, May 17: Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma on Tuesday criticised the National People’s Party (NPP)-led MDA government for diluting the Lokayukta Act and not implementing the Meghalaya Community Participation and Public Services Social Audit Act, 2017.
His response is following the shoddy construction of the inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Mawlai Mawiong.
Rs 48 crore was spent for the project.
Mukul pointed out that though the Lokayukta was ready to probe many cases in the past, the government had put hurdles.
Similarly, the social audit Act was not implemented by the government.
The Act sought to bring in the involvement of the society as watchdogs against corruption while implementing various projects on a real time basis, he added.
