Over-speeding vehicle throws away occupant from Umiam flyover

Shillong,  April 29: An occupant of the vehicle was thrown away resulting in his death due to overspeeding at Umiam flyover, on Tuesday.

The accident was reported around 2.35 pm Ri Bhoi SP Vivekanand Singh Rathore said upon reaching the location, it was learned that a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R with registration number ML 05 AC 5114, driven by Gobinda Biswas, a resident of Assam, who was proceeding towards Guwahati, was speeding. Upon reaching the curve at the flyover, an occupant  identified as Nobin Sing, aged 41, son of Dayal Sing and a resident of Mukhla, who was sat on the window of the front seat was thrown out as the car hit the side of the road and fell off the flyover, resulting in a major head injury. The other two occupants sitting at the back, Bijoy Sing, son of Dayal Sing, also a resident of Mukhla, who is his brother, and Baris Marboh, son of T. Marboh, a  resident of Puriang, were not injured. The injured person was taken by the 108 ambulance to Civil Nongpoh accompanied by his brother. The driver of the vehicle and the other occupant were sent for medical examination, and the vehicle has been towed to Umiam PS for safe custody.

Later, the medical doctor declared the injured dead .
