Shillong, June 30: Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Monday reiterated that the chairperson of women’s commission Phidalia Toi did not attend 12 meetings and there was an election complaint against her which led him to take action.
He added that the chairperson should be above political affiliations and she should work without fear or favour.
When asked whether he accepted her resignation, Paul said that a search commitee will be formed to get the names for the post of chairperson of the commission.
When pointed about the low remuneration of the chairperson and lack of facilities, the minister said there were persons like Thomas Jones who came from Wales and brought changes in the lives of the people here without using any cars or helicopters.
