Shillong, July 9: People from different walks of life , mourned the death of Fr Stan Swamy by holding memorial service and candle light programme infront of Calvary , Laitumkhrah on Friday.
The event organised by Friends of Jesuits, a catholic association, saw the participation of some dedicated citizens of the state who want to uphold justice and freedom at any cost.

Besides pastors and nuns, the leaders of KSU, TUR, HYC, FKJGP and human rights activists recalled the contribution of Fr Swamy for the welfare of the tribal population.
The call for protection of indigenous people by resisting forces which undermine free speech and expressions was made on the occasion.
