Police arrest two Assam drug peddlers in Mawlai

Shillong, Oct 9: Police on Wednesday arrested two drug peddlers.
In a statement, East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtynger said based on credible intelligence, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) East Khasi Hills Shillong in collaboration with Mawlai Police station intercepted one Tata Sumo coming from Guwahati towards Shillong at Banalari Showroom, Mawlai and apprehended the following persons.
1.Abdul Mukit(43)
S/o (L) Tahir Ali
R/o Siverchak, Kamramganj, Assam
2. Sawrupananda Mohanta(38)
5/o Sadananda Mohanta
R/o Mohanpur, P.t-II, Cachar, Assam
The following Items were recovered and seized.
1.Five) soap boxes containing suspected heroin weighing- 57.51 gm.
2. Four mobile phones.
3. One EPIC card.
4. One PAN card.
5. Two ATM cards.
6. One Driving Licence.
In this connection, a case is being registered at Mawlai Police station and further investigation is currently underway.
