Shillong,Jan 2: The judicial inquiry into killing of former HNLC leader Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew is delayed as state police have engaged lawyers from Delhi and the inquiry commission will have to wait for their dates.
An official source said on Sunday that some politicians wanted early completion of the probe but actual position is that the inquiry panel will have to go through several affidavits and relevant papers submitted by both the parties. “Moreover, the delay is also due to lawyers from Delhi engaged by the police,”the source added.

In the past, extension was given for six months for some commissions of inquiry but the Vaiphei commission got only a few months to complete the probe,the source said.
