Shillong, May 20: A lower court on Saturday granted five days’ police custody of the five accused involved in the assault case of two taxi drivers in the city.
A police officer said the court granted five days of policy custody for interrogation of the accused.
Earlier in the day, several taxi drivers assembled at the gate of Sadar Police station.
Two members from the Harijan Colony also visited the police station.
Later, a five-member delegation representing the taxi drivers, including two witnesses, met the police officials as they wanted to identify the accused.
Questions were raised as to whether the arrest was faked by the police.
However, the police officials asked them to have trust in the police.
The police officials also told the delegation that the identification of the accused cannot be facilitated by the police but only by the court.
