Police probe twin rape cases in South West Garo Hills

Shillong, Apr 21: Police are working on clues regarding the twin rape cases in Assam -Meghalaya border on April 16.

According to the police, the incident happened on April 16 evening during a festival and around eight accused are involved. Two boys were beaten up and two minor girls were raped, the police said.

The incident took place in a paddy field during  Chenga Benga Mela at Gandhipara close to  Garo Badha, South West Garo Hills.

FIR was filed on April 18 and a case was registered immediately, the police said, adding that there was no abduction of the victims.

The police cautioned people and groups  against spreading misinformation that Jihadis had raped four minor girls.
